White Nationalist (fascist) group Northeast White Pride threatened to assault a meeting at Boston community space E5 on Tuesday Aug 30th. Antifascists showed up, Nazis did not.
With fascists across the country on the offensive, it is important for communities to come together and defeat their warped and dangerous ideology.
In Massachusetts, antifa groups have committed to aggressively countering fascist activity and organizing attempts. In May, Massachusetts antifascists disrupted North East White Pride’s regional meeting at the Worcester public library. In response, NEWP has escalated its rhetoric–producing a video challenging antifa to “bring [their] bike locks,” to the organization’s July meeting as well as threatening to attack an August 30th meeting at the e5 social center in Boston.
On the public forum of NEWP’s website, founding member Rob O’Donovan posted, regarding the e5 event: “A shindig put on by the Party for Socialism and Liberation . . any hardcore National Socialist can’t afford to miss this one!! There might even be some antifa there.” O’Donovan was correct on his last point: indeed, Boston Antifa were on hand to guard the meeting. However, there were no “hardcore National Socialists” to be found.
Boston Antifa will continue to be vigilant in its fight to smash the fascist menace whenever it rears its ugly head.
